On the first Sunday of Spring Okondo, a peaceful municipality located in the north of the historic territory of Álava, bordering Biscay, hosts the Day of the Village, Baserritar Eguna in Basque.
This is an event that combines an exhibition of agricultural products, livestock and crafts with recreational and cultural activities.
Music and dances, attractions for little ones, tasting of corn talos, txakoli and other quality branded traditional foods are present at this fair established over two decades ago. The Okondo town council, together with cultural and catering associations, are responsible for its momentum and permanence in time.
Okondo is located in the north of the historic territory of Álava, in the region of Ayala, 55 and 21 kilometres from Vitoria-Gasteiz and Bilbao, respectively. From Vitoria-Gasteiz there are two options, take the N-622 and the AP-68 or the A-625 and the A-3641, while from Bilbao the best route is via the BI-636 and the BI-3641.
