The Vitoria-Gasteiz Medieval Market from 29 September to 1 October offers visitors the chance to travel back in time to the ambiance, trades and activities of the Middle Ages. Immerse yourself in the city's past with a market comprising more than 200 artisan stalls with live demonstrations of their crafts.
Blacksmiths, carpenters, metalsmiths, glass blowers, bakers and coopers recreate an old market in which today as in the past, Christians, Muslims and Jews peacefully coexist.
Craftwork
The market is full of handicraft stalls, where you’ll find all sorts of items, from artisanal jewellery and medieval clothing to wooden toys and leather goods. It's the perfect place to find special gifts and authentic keepsakes.
You’ll also find a wide variety of food stalls with delicious traditional artisan foods like doughnuts, talo corn flatbreads and candied nuts.
You’ll be able to find these catering stalls in Plaza de la Burullería, Plaza de Santa María, Etxauri Car Park and Plaza de Eskoriaza-Eskibel.
Outdoor performances
You’ll also be able to enjoy street performances, as the market is rounded out with theatre, juggling, puppet shows, live music and fire dancers livening up Vitoria-Gasteiz’s medieval quarter. The market also has a kids’ space with shows, games and workshops for kids.
