The Camino Real de las Postas

The Camino Real de las Postas is a short hiking trail that combines history, nature and tourist attractions. The route was used during the 15th to 17th centuries by the mail service for post to France and it represents an interesting alternative to reach Vitoria-Gasteiz from the San Adrián tunnel.

The path initially coincides with St. James’s Way and GR-25, however, it soon leaves them behind as it travels deep into the heart of the Plains of Álava.

The Camino Real de las Postas PR-A 13 begins in Zalduondo, in the Mandobide car park, and provides whoever travels it with the opportunity to enjoy the natural wealth of an environment marked by the Aldaia mountains and the ends of the Ullíbarri Gamboa reservoir, as well as to discover the hermitage of San Martin de Ania or the small hamlets of Galarreta or Luzuriaga.
